A Happy Feast of Tabernacles
He Dwelt Among Us — John 1:14
Beloved,
The Feast of Tabernacles is a feast of the Lord, kept for seven days, and followed by the eighth-day solemn assembly. It is a feast of joy — a time when the children of Israel dwelt in booths, remembering how God brought them out of Egypt and made them dwell in tents. And it points to the 8th day when the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them (Revelation 21:3). Let us search the Scriptures and rejoice.
📖 The Commandment to Dwell in Booths
📖 Leviticus 23:33-34 (KJV)
"And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, The fifteenth day of this seventh month shall be the feast of tabernacles for seven days unto the LORD."
📖 Leviticus 23:42-43 (KJV)
"Ye shall dwell in booths seven days; all that are Israelites born shall dwell in booths: That your generations may know that I made the children of Israel to dwell in booths, when I brought them out of the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God."
📖 Leviticus 23:36, 39 (KJV)
"Seven days ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD: on the eighth day shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD: it is a solemn assembly; and ye shall do no servile work therein. ... on the eighth day shall be a sabbath."
The Lord commanded His people to dwell in booths — temporary shelters — for seven days, so that every generation would remember that He brought them out of Egypt and made them dwell in tents. And on the eighth day shall be a holy convocation — a solemn assembly. It is a feast of remembrance and of joy.
📖 A Feast of Gladness
📖 Deuteronomy 16:14-15 (KJV)
"And thou shalt rejoice in thy feast, thou, and thy son, and thy daughter, and thy manservant, and thy maidservant, and the Levite, the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, that are within thy gates. Seven days shalt thou keep a solemn feast unto the LORD thy God in the place which the LORD shall choose: because the LORD thy God shall bless thee in all thine increase, and in all the works of thine hands, therefore thou shalt surely rejoice."
The Lord said, "thou shalt surely rejoice." The Feast of Tabernacles is a feast of gladness — for the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow alike — because the Lord blesses His people in all their increase. We rejoice because He has brought us out and He dwells among us.

📖 John 1:14 (KJV)
"And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth."
📖 Revelation 21:3 (KJV)
"And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God."
The Word was made flesh and dwelt among us — literally, He tabernacled among us. The Feast of Tabernacles points to Christ, who came to dwell with His people, and to the day when the tabernacle of God is with men forever. What a happy feast!
📖 John 1:14 (KJV) — Remember It
"And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us."
Beloved, the Feast of Tabernacles is a feast of joy. We remember how God brought His people out of Egypt, and we rejoice that Christ came to dwell among us. After seven days of tabernacling, we look to the eighth day when the tabernacle of God is with men forever. What a happy feast! Let us therefore surely rejoice in the Lord.
