1. Introduction

The Truth ("we", "us", or "our"), a product of The Truth Academics, LLC, operates the The Truth mobile application and website (thetruthuncut.org). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our app. Please read it carefully. By using the app, you consent to the practices described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect

  • Account Information: Name, email address, and password when you register.
  • Profile Information: Country, state/region, spiritual interests, and goals you optionally provide.
  • Usage Data: Features used, pages visited, quiz scores, trivia streaks, and devotional activity.
  • Prayer Requests & Testimonies: Content you voluntarily submit.
  • Device Information: Browser type, operating system, and app install status.
  • Payment Information: Processed securely by Stripe. We do not store your full card details.
  • Google Account Data (if connected): If you choose to connect your Google account for Google Slides export or Google Classroom integration, we access only the specific scopes you authorize (e.g., ability to create files in your Google Drive, access your Google Classroom courses). We do not access your Gmail, contacts, or any data outside the granted scopes. Google OAuth tokens are managed securely and are never stored in our database in plain text.
  • Student Data (Google Classroom): If you are a teacher using our Google Classroom integration, we access only the class roster and assignment data necessary to deliver and sync assignments. We do not collect, store, or share student personally identifiable information (PII) beyond what is strictly needed for the feature to function in real time.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and personalize the app's features (devotionals, Bible study, reading plans).
  • To send daily spiritual update emails (you may unsubscribe at any time).
  • To process subscription payments via Stripe.
  • To track spiritual growth milestones and streaks.
  • To improve app performance and fix issues.
  • To respond to feedback and support requests.
  • To enable Google Slides export: We use your authorized Google OAuth token solely to create a presentation in your Google Drive on your behalf. We do not read, modify, or delete any existing files in your Drive.
  • To enable Google Classroom integration: We use your authorized token to push assignments to your Classroom courses. We do not retain Google Classroom data beyond the active session.

4. Google API Services — Limited Use Disclosure

The Truth's use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

This means we will:

  • Only use Google user data for the specific feature the user requested (Slides export or Classroom sync).
  • Never use Google user data for advertising or to build user profiles for advertising purposes.
  • Never sell Google user data to third parties.
  • Never allow humans to read your Google data unless you've given explicit permission, it's necessary for security purposes, or we are required to do so by law.
  • Only request the minimum scopes necessary to deliver the requested functionality.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We may share information with:

  • Stripe — for payment processing.
  • Google — only when you explicitly connect your Google account for Slides export or Classroom integration.
  • Google Analytics — for anonymous usage analytics (no personally identifiable data is shared).
  • Base44 Platform — our infrastructure provider for hosting and database services.
  • Law enforcement if required by applicable law or valid legal process.

6. Student Data & FERPA Compliance

We recognize that teachers using our Live Classroom and Google Classroom integration features may process student educational records subject to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) (20 U.S.C. § 1232g). In our role as a service provider to educators:

  • We act as a "school official" with a legitimate educational interest only as directed by the teacher/institution.
  • We do not use student data for any purpose other than providing the contracted educational service.
  • We do not sell, share, or disclose student PII to any third party without written consent from the educational institution or as required by law.
  • Teachers and institutions are responsible for ensuring their use of our platform complies with their school's data governance policies and any applicable FERPA obligations.
  • Student data accessed via Google Classroom is processed in real time only and is not retained in our database beyond what is necessary for the assignment session.

7. Children's Privacy & COPPA

Our app is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent, in compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) (15 U.S.C. §§ 6501–6506).

  • If you are a teacher using our Classroom features with students under 13, it is your sole responsibility to ensure that parental consent has been obtained in accordance with COPPA and your school's policies before allowing minors to use this platform.
  • If we discover that a child under 13 has submitted personal data without proper consent, we will delete that data promptly. Contact us at support@thetruthuncut.org if you believe this has occurred.

13. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS), secure token handling, and access controls to protect your information. OAuth tokens for Google integrations are handled securely by our infrastructure provider and are never exposed in client-side code or logs. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
